Important Zoning Information
All new construction, swimming pools, decks, additions, and any other permanent structure requires a building permit. This is for residential, commercial, or farming use. Permits must be obtained before any construction starts.
- Structures 100 sq. ft. or larger and other structure types DO require a building permit.
- Other items requiring building permits: decks, porches, sun rooms, storage sheds, signs/billboards, above and inground swimming pools, etc.
- New Home Permits will require: Application, a copy of the Huron County Health Permit, and a sketch or blue print of the new home showing square footages. Square footage includes living space.
- New lots must have a minimum of 150' of frontage, and must be at least one (1) acre.
- Different requirements may be attainable.... "Lots behind lots" please call to discuss.
- Concrete driveways are recommended to be 48" back from the edge of the road.
- Driveway pipes will be determined by Township Trustees, no permit is required. If you reside on a county or state road, those agencies will determine drive pipe size. County and State driveway permits may be required.
- Only one (1) unlicensed vehicle is permitted on properties in Bronson Township.
- Resolution 1997011 states that the front portion of all mailboxes shall be at least 36" away from the pavement.
- Signs and billboards DO require a building permit, please see fee schedule.
